Why this site?
This site exists primarily for expounding my rants about Delphi, Java, C#
and anything else I happen to be interested in. Mostly they will be
development-related, but you never know. My primary audience is actually my
friends, but everyone is welcome.
Why Delphi?
Yes, I think C++ is great and still unparalleled performance-wise, but I find that for real RAD, and even
for low-level work, Delphi fits the bill just fine. It's no slouch
either. However, there
seems to be a dearth of good documentation, so people tend to misunderstand
and misuse its power. In my humble opinion, Delphi also deserves
more attention. Besides, there are enough C++ sites on the
web.
Why DotNET/C#?
First, because it's new and interesting. Second, because it was designed
by very good people, and I happen to agree with their design
decisions. Third, because it's Microsoft, and as developers we can't
afford to ignore it.
Who are you anyway?
My name is Emil Santos, and I'm a developer who has been working with Delphi since version 1.0, and
even before that, with Turbo Pascal. I have also been working with C/C++
for about just as long. I'm also keenly interested in Java; however
C# and DotNET seem to have a bright(er?) future (feel free to
set me
straight). I have also had the pleasure of using many languages,
including Perl, PHP, JavaScript and yes,
even Visual Basic.
